RESILIENT | OPTIMISTIC | ADVOCATE | RELIABLE
During the 2024-25 school year, we are debuting new school-wide behavior expectations across the district for our students, staff, and families to create a positive and safe learning environment so that all students can achieve their best. We want our Bearcats to be Resilient, to be Optimistic, to know how to Advocate for themselves and for others, and to be Reliable citizens.
Setting Students Up for Success
As we launch R.O.A.R. expectations across BCPS, we have created the following behavior response process for teachers, staff, and parents to follow:
- REMIND: An opportunity to remind the student of the expectation and to make a better choice.
- REFOCUS: An opportunity for students to continue learning within the lesson, but with a modified experience in order to support success.
- REFLECT: An opportunity for students to personally and privately reflect on their behavior and its impact, as well as to make a plan with guidance.
- RESTORE: An opportunity for the student to reset, and to repair the affected relationship with mentoring and guidance.
- REACH OUT: An opportunity for the teacher and student to receive additional support from behavioral leadership staff.
